When I tell you that Timothy and his wife, Kelli, lost their dream house in the Eaton Canyon fire you'll see the whole picture. I knew about their loss before I saw this work. So when I saw it I knew what it was. It brought me back to the panicked moments where my family grabbed a few things and drove away. Smelling the smoke, and seeing a red horizon in a place where it couldn't be the sunset. These drawings don’t feel stuck in fear and sadness, though. They read as a form of recovery to me.
